Merry Christmas from the MD
It's hard to know where to begin with the story of Penderyn Distillery in 2014 with so much going on at the distillery and with our family of brands.
Let's start with the distillery expansion project that was fully commissioned in June of this year. Our new mash tun and pot stills complete the programme of work which was phased in from the previous year. I would like to thank SA Brain and Co who have produced our barley wash for the last 13 years. They are still an important business partner but from June this year our wash is being made on-site at Penderyn and we look forward with great confidence to the future. We now have a bigger well designed and compact facility that will allow us to make new and innovative spirits going forward and if you haven't had a chance to look around then do please come and see us in the New Year.
The Penderyn brand is growing both in volume terms and in recognition around the world, especially in France, Germany and Europe in general, but also in new markets in Australia and Taiwan. Perhaps the most pleasing feature of 2014 is the recognition that Brecon Botanicals Gin and Merlyn Cream Liqueur have received this year. Penderyn Distillery now boasts four nationally distributed lines in the UK along with our growing international presence.
As always, we have tasted our brands in many places and been part of some great events. We celebrated the centenary of Dylan Thomas birth with our Icons of Wales bottling and supporting projects such as Dan Llywelyn Hall's "Deaths and Entrances" tribute to Dylan. We were at the NATO conference in September and received a personal "thank you" from the Prime Minister for providing gifts for the NATO Leaders which also gave a lot of international attention. We launched Penderyn "Legend" at Whisky Live in Paris which as a rebrand of Penderyn 41 was very well received.
We continue to enjoy terrific support from our club members, our ever widening circle of distributors, retailers and customers and our shareholders and employees. Your passion for our brands and your ongoing engagement with the distillery really inspires us.
We wish you a very happy Christmas and an exciting New Year with of course the added excitement of a rugby world cup to look forward to in 2015 which I hope will give us the chance to tell another classic story..... But more on that in 2015!
I hope we meet at Penderyn in 2015
