The Visitor Centre

Penderyn Single Malt Whisky was launched by His Royal Highness Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, on 1st March 2004 at St. David’s Hall in Cardiff. Since then, Wales’ only whisky has experienced considerable success. It is now found on the shelves of both supermarkets and specialist retailers throughout the UK and is distributed to 16 countries, including 28 US states. Penderyn has also won high critical acclaim and a number of prestigious international industry awards and medals.

In 2007, Penderyn Distillery introduced three further brands: Brecon Five Vodka, Brecon Gin and Merlyn Cream Liqueur. All three have won international recognition and are gaining an excellent reputation in the UK and abroad.

Penderyn Distillery opened its doors to visitors in June 2008 with the launch of its new purpose designed and built Visitor Centre. The distillery is the only one in Wales and the first to legally distill a whisky spirit in the country for more than 100 years. At last, members of the public can visit the distillery, take a journey through the history of whisky making in Wales, and understand the distilling and bottling process at first hand.

The aim of opening the distillery to visitors is to educate and inform people about the ancient art of distilling and to demonstrate the differences between our process and the distilling of Scottish, Irish and American whiskies. The distillery expects to attract 20,000 – 25,000 visitors per year.
